Plus you have the typical, boring long lost brother storyline and you even have the friend who turns on you with Flynn in Uncharted 2. The reveal trailer with Sam sounding villain like saying "all your lies will catch up to you", "I'll be there, sifting through the wreckage" and "You OWE me" sounded great.īut like I said a lot of things within Uncharted is cliche, it's based on action adventure films and I don't say this in a bad way it's actually a good thing.
Least if Sam was the villain it gives the villain a special connection to Nate. It's the last game and despite being great it focused way to much on Nate and Sam. Cutter gets one small mention and Chloe gets nothing. Not even them but Chloe or Cutter, characters not even seen in this game. Sam would have taken over Rafe's role leaving a gap where Sully and Elena could have been involved more. The revenge storyline would have been much better Drake says he's an only child in Drakes Fortune, Among Thieves nothing, Drakes Deception Marlowe has his family files, even knows his real name yet no brother. Why do people say this is "cliche" yet say nothing over the typical "long lost brother" storyline who then "magically turns up alive" when we have never heard one peep out of him. Uncharted 2 was nearer to perfect then Uncharted 4 It would've made for a great Action/Adventure story, but not necessarily a great Uncharted story.Amy skews closer to actual film reference for these games (UC3: Sahara & Lawrence of Arabia, UC2: Indiana Jones) and it seems like her vision of UC4 would've felt like a Pirates of the Caribbean type affair.I personally will take The Goonies over that one anyday.
I think Amy's version consisted of Evil Sam, a playable Pirate flashback sequence (per the model from TLOU dev diary), and the actual Ghost Pirates that the final game only joked about. They went more weighty w/ UC4 but they kept the core tone & heart of the franchise intact, and I simply don't see how Amy's version could've pulled that off in all honesty. The craziest part to me is that people were worried about Neil & Bruce going too dark & turning it into TLOU, but in reality, Amy's pitch was much darker than what Neil & Bruce had in mind.

Pretty sure Amy's vision would've set the series down that road, and the series itself may have never received its proper closure that it has now. I'm a gigantic fan of the franchise, but I think they did the right thing in ending it.had they pushed forward, the series would stagnate, fatigue would set in, and Drake's entire legacy would become tarnished.
I'm sure Amy would've found some way to piece it together, but it seems to me that she was just creating another sequel that would've needed to be built upon w/ more installments, whereas Neil & Bruce wanted to put the series to rest. Look at Batman v Superman.the general consensus is that they had a good idea, but they went so grim dark with it & changed the characters so drastically that they ended up w/ a film that very few could find merit in. It clashes with the entire tone of the may sound more dramatic from the outset, but writers aren't meant to just throw down the story with the most dramatic potential regardless of whether or not it breaks the characters & the entire tone.
For the vengeance storyline to make sense, Nate would've had to literally do something to screw his brother over entirely, leaving him presumed dead or rotting in jail by his own hand.in which case, how can we fully root for Nate when he destroyed his own brother's life in some significant way? It would essentially run against everything we've come to know about the character & about the franchise as a whole. Jb227 2017d offense, but the vengeance angle is a pretty poor one, at least on the surface.
